Sheffield City Council partners with Toggle to launch new indoor market voucher scheme and support traders

2020 was a tough year for everyone, including the traders at Sheffield’s Moor Market, and Sheffield Council didn’t want to let Christmas pass without doing something special for the people of the city.

It’s why Toggle was enlisted to help the team run its Great Christmas Giveaway and give people a little help with their Christmas shopping, drive footfall for the 70+ Moor Market traders and boost awareness about the market. The Moor Market is a modern, indoor farmers' market with artisan food stalls selling organic meat, fruit and vegetables - as well as gifts and homeware.

The Festive Giveaway saw £10,000 worth of £5 vouchers offered for The Moor Market via the Toggle platform. The vouchers were easy to redeem anywhere in the market and digitally distributed directly to customers in the form of QR codes, in order to make the giveaway Covid-19 secure.

The Toggle platform also has features which allow redemption parameters to be set. It meant that the vouchers were valid on Saturdays-only to encourage shoppers who’d normally visit a supermarket to head to the market and support local traders instead.

To cater for shielding customers, 200 vouchers were digitally distributed to people who were unable to visit the market in person. These vouchers were redeemable through the Moor Market’s new online delivery platform, Chefchef.store.

Sue Youdan, owner of S & J’s pantry in The Moor Market, said: “I think the voucher deal is amazing. It will give people encouragement to come in, have a look and see how fresh things are. We want people to come down with an open mind. Look around all the stores before you make up your mind on how to use your vouchers.”
